Registration will be from 2:30 – 5:30 pm

JUNIOR MARKET LAMB AND GOAT SHOW

Thurs., Sept.18-6:00 p.m.

Registration will be from 2:30-5:30 p.m.

RULES:

Exhibitors must be bona-fide full time Alabama residents.  Exhibitors of school age must be enrolled in or have graduated the previous spring from school.  All entries must have their milk teeth.  Each exhibitor may show a maximum of four (4) lambs or goats.  Lambs must have their tails docked and should be shown in short fleece.

The showmanship contest shall consist of six divisions based on the age of the exhibitor as of day of show:
4 y/o & under, 5-6 y/o, 7-9 y/o, 10-12 y/o, 13-15 y/o, and 16 y/o+

Each contestant in the showmanship contest must show his/her own lamb or goat.  No one is allowed in the ring during the show except for the contestant, judge, and designated assistants.  At the show committee’s discretion, classes may be altered to fit entries.  Feed and care must be furnished by the exhibitor.  Entries must be wether or ewe lambs/goats.

The lambs and goats will be divided into six weight classes:

1) Lightweight, 2) Light-medium weight 3) Medium weight, 4) Intermediate weight, 5) Intermediate-Heavy weight 6) Heavyweight.

BEEF CATTLE SHOW

Sat., Sept. 20 – Show starts directly after the previous show 

JUNIOR STEER SHOW RULES:

Owners and exhibitors must be bona-fide Alabama 4-H, FFA, or FCCLA members. Steers must be exhibited by the owner. No adults will be allowed in the ring.  No more than two entries may be made by the same exhibitor.  All entries must be pre-registered (not to exceed 20 steers).  Steers must be shown by the owner unless two entries of the same exhibitor are in the same class.  Steers must be halter broken and properly groomed. Unruly steers will be declared ineligible.  All steers will be exhibited at the owner’s risk.

Steers will be divided into three classes (light, medium, and heavy), based on weight.

Steers will be weighed from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the day of the show. No gates will be opened until 10:00 a.m.

JUNIOR BEEF HEIFER SHOW RULES:

Owners and exhibitors must be bona-fide Alabama 4-H, FFA, or FCCLA members. Animals must be exhibited by the owner. No adults will be allowed in the ring.  No more than two entries per class. All entries must be pre-registered. All animals must be halter broken and properly groomed. Unruly heifers will be declared ineligible. All heifers will be exhibited at the owner’s risk.  Registration of heifers will be from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the day of the show. No gates will be opened until 10:00 a.m. 

Heifer Show will begin following the Steer Show.

Showmanship will be broken into these divisions:

9-11 years of age as of the day of the show.

12-14 years of age as of the day of the show.

15 years of age and older as of the day of the show.

Breed Divisions: 1) British Breeds & Crosses 2) Exotic Breeds & Crosses 3) American Breeds & Crosses

Each Breed Division will have the following classes:

Class 1Junior Heifer Calves (Calved after Jan. 1, 2025)

Class 2Early Senior Heifer Calves (Calved Sept. 1 to Oct. 31, 2024)

Class 3-Senior Heifer Calves (Calved Nov.1 to Dec.31, 2024)

Class 4Summer Yearling Females (Calved May 1 to Aug. 31, 2024)

Class 5Junior Yearling Females (Calved Jan. 1 to April 30, 2024)

Class 6Senior Yearling Females (Calved Oct. 1 to Dec. 31, 2023)
